When the Los Angeles Lakers gave Kobe Bryant a two-year, $48.5 million contract extension, you had to know it wasn’t ONLY an investment into what Kobe the player could do.
The deal was meant, in-part to help keep the Lakers attractive enough to land some big free-agent names in the few years before Kobe called it quits, and now it’s looking like he’s being called into offseason service to do just that.
USA Today’s Sam Amick is reporting that Bryant will most likely be joining the Lakers in attempting to convince LaMarcus Aldridge to join the purple and gold:
As Lakers prepare for meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge tonight, I’m told Kobe Bryant is expected to take part. Not definite, but that’s plan.

Landing a player the caliber of LaMarcus Aldridge would be a HUGE step forward for a Laker team hoping to return to NBA prominence in a hurry. It’s not like the Houston Rockets and a host of other teams aren’t posing the Lakers some stiff competition though.
Stay tuned.
