When the Los Angeles Lakers drafted D’Angelo Russell over Jahlil Okafor a lot of eyebrows were raised that the team would pass on a big man. Now, rumors of their free agent plans seem to indicated exactly why they took a guard over a big.
According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, the team took Russell because they are confident in signing an All-Star big in free agency.
The Lakers feel pretty confident about their chances of getting LaMarcus Aldridge. Major reason they decided to go with Russell apparently.

If the rumor is true, the Laker rebuild will take another giant step forward.
