During game 4 Lebron took a nasty fall and gashed his head on the camera of a baseline cameraman. Lebron now wants to the league to examine the need for camera on the baseline. Lebron told Chris Hayes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group this:
“During the Players Association meetings in July, I’ll have some points that will be announced…Something has to be done.”
Lebron is not the only player that wants the NBA and when Lebron brings this issue the the Player Association summer meetings he’ll have support throughout the league. After Lebron fall many players took to twitter to express how they have been feeling towards baseline cameras. With Lebron seemingly leading the charge towards the removal of camera on the baseline the NBA will certainly look closer.
Sideline and baseline cameras angles give us at home viewers the up close interaction with the game. For me watching the game at home has become almost equally enjoyable experience thanks to technology. For the NBA they need to examine if there is another way to get those up close angles more safely. And could this lead to would removing camera men and women just be the start to moving fans off courtside.
