Plays like these are the reason I’d argue baseball is NOT a dying sport. Sometimes it takes a feat of pure athleticism to get to a ball and take away a potentially game changing score, and it doesn’t matter the league you’re playing in.
Zach Shields demonstrated this much over the weekend while playing in the Pioneers League for the Billings Mustangs.
The play shown below saved 4 runs against the rivaled Missoula Osprey – basically your equivalent of Richard Sherman intercepting Brees in the endzone, Minor League style.
My point: some plays are impressive, no matter the level of competition. This juggling feat is one of them.
