It’s a #COLDWORLD up in New England man.
The Patriots gave up long time starting guard Logan Mankins to Tampa Bay for young, potentially talented TE Tim Wright. After the signing of ex-Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler, Wright’s time with the Patriots has come to an abrupt end.
The 6’4, 220 pound TE/WR hybrid was originally brought in to be developed into a backup for Rob Gronkowski and while he didn’t have the job completely locked up; he was considered as a strong candidate. He amassed 26 receptions for 259 yards and 6 TDs last season. While his numbers during the season were solid for a backup, he barely saw the field in the playoffs.
The Patriots won the Super Bowl without him contributing much, and that in turn made him expendable. With his unique size/speed combination, and the right offense; Wright shouldn’t be unemployed too long. The TE position is rapidly becoming a focal point of many offensive schemes.
