According to John Reid of NOLA.com the New Orleans Pelicans are planning to make “an assertive to push” to sign young star power forward Anthony Davis, to a 5-year contract extension that would be over $143 million to begin on July 1.
Davis is just 22 years old but managed to average 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds & 2.9 blocks in 36 minutes a game in 2014-2015. Davis even missed a stretch of games due to injury. After 3 years in the league, the star known as “The Brow” has improved every single year since he was drafted No. 1 overall.
On July 1, the Pelicans can offer Anthony Davis a five-year contract that will top $30 million/year at the end. He is 22 years old.

While the Pelicans can afford to keep Davis, the major question then comes down to if they sign Davis to that large of contract, will they have money to build a roster around him that can take teams in the West?
