There have been a few special small forwards in the storied history of the NBA — including Larry Bird, Dr. J, Dominique Wilkins, Scottie Pippen and James Worthy just to name a few.
LeBron James will go down in history, but where will he truly rank as a point/forward when it’s all said and done?
Former Warriors legend, Rick Barry told Scott Ferrall of CBS Sports Radio that “James is the best three to ever play the game.”
I think LeBron is the greatest three to ever play the game. And as great as he is, he still has room for improvement. If that was ever to happen and he really refined his game more, they may have to outlaw him, he’s so good. He’s an anomaly, I mean he really is. There’s never been anybody like him with his size, his athleticism, his feel for the game.
It’s a huge compliment, considering Barry is an all-time great small forward himself. It also speaks to how highly thought of James is, considering most experts consider Larry Bird to be the greatest at the position.
Is James even a true small forward is the real question?
