Just a few days after winning re-election, FIFA President, Sapp Blatter has stepped down.
Blatter was at the center of the FIFA scandal these past few weeks but he held firm in his position to run for re-election. It surprised many that he had received an overwhelming amount of votes to once again reign as president.
His resignation now comes as a sign of panic on his behalf and as the first shoe to drop in the long line of trouble headed towards FIFA.
Blatter had served as president since 1998 and he wasn’t one of the 14 members of FIFA arrested for bribery and money laundering, but still he felt the heat and sees what the future holds for him and his colleagues.
It’ll be interesting to see where FIFA goes from here.
