There hasn’t been a ton of good news for former first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney since getting drafted last year by the Houston Texans.
After needing microfracture surgery last year, many were not sure if Clowney would ever live up to his potential or even be ready to go for the start of the 2015 season.
Well it looks like things are starting to look up for Clowney, as it is being reported that the Texans are expecting him to be ready to go for training camp.
Coach Bill O’Brien recently told NFL Media’s Michael Silver that the Houston Texans expect to have pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney ready for the season opener in September.
O’Brien’s estimate might turn out to be overly conservative.
Clowney has progressed so well from microfracture surgery on his knee, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, that the new goal is to have him back on the field when training camp opens.
The coaching and medical staffs will likely ease Clowney back into practice throughout August. Still, this is excellent news for the prospects of one of the most hyped players to enter the NFL in the past decade.
This pretty positive news, as they will give Clowney a good amount of time to get back into football shape and the Texans will be able to evaluate where he is at physically before thrusting him into a game that actually counts.
Personally, I am anxious to see how Clowney will look coming off a such a serious procedure and I am anxious to see how he performs next to JJ Watt.
