Kent Babb recently profiled Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly for the Washington Post. In the profile Babb uncovers some of Chips rules, regulations and quirks. One thing Babb uncovered is that Chip Kelly has players submit to daily pee test.
Kelly asked them to supply daily urine samples, to document their sleep and heart rates, to practice while a network of speakers blared drill cadences and favorites from Ricky Martin or “The Lion King.
Babb doesn’t explain what exactly Chip was looking for in the pee screens. A former Eagles player did talk about how he and the other players like Chips test.
Most people were very receptive to it, [but] some guys were like: ‘What are we doing; why are we doing this?’ , adding that as quickly as players learned how to cheat the hydration test, adding a splash of water from the urinal, Kelly ordered the system revamped to discourage diluters.
