Fedor Emelianenko was once one of the most feared fighters in the world and then he suffered 3 straight losses and faded away. Fedor is now ready to return to MMA and at only 38 years old he feels as though he can compete at the highest level.
There is currently no higher level than the UFC, a promotion which bashed him a decade ago for not agreeing to their terms. It seems as those days are behind Fedor and the UFC has a strong chance at signing the heavyweight.
Fedoras Manager, Vadim Finkelchtein, discussed the possibility of Fedor signing with the UFC:
“Well I think UFC have a big chance to sign Fedor. It depends on what offer they will make,” he concluded.
“If Dana would not only talk, but do some things [and] make a good offer to Fedor, they have a big chance.”
When asked why negotiations will be different this time, Vadim noted the UFC and Fedor have a common ally:
“I’m not sure, but I don’t think it’s going to be a big problem because I think Reebok is interested in Fedor as well as the UFC,” he said.
“I think if they really want this they will find some ways.”
If a chubby Frank Mir can win back-to-back fights then Fedor can at least get a chance in the division. UFC fans have been waiting a long time to see Fedor in the octagon and it seems like Dana White has all the tools to finally make that happen.
