As Paul George preps for the 2015-2016 campaign, Larry Bird feels his all-star forward should play more in the post going into next season.
Following his gruesome leg injury, Bird believes it’ll be more ethical for George to be in the post, because he’ll be a matchup nightmare offensively and he wouldn’t have to chase guys all over the floor defensively.
“I know what it did for my career and coming off this injury, I think it would be a good thing because he can still guard some threes, but he doesn’t have to do it all the time.”
While George is unsure about playing heavy minutes in the post, if you ask Bird, whatever George wants doesn’t matter.
“I’m not going to get into a battle about where Paul George will play,” Bird said. “He’s a basketball player, and we can put him anywhere out there.”
It makes sense as to why Bird would want George at the four more, but if George is unwilling to log heavy minutes down there, things could get interesting.
