Besides throwing a water bottle at a fan and being called Johnny Idiot Face by Seth Rollins it has been a mild summer for Johnny Manziel since he left rehab.
That is a good thing because his opportunities to become a quality starting quarterback in the NFL are dwindling and he needs to make a move sooner than later.
Coach Mike Pettine is opening the door for him slightly, Manziel just needs to kick it down.
“I don’t think anything’s changed,” Pettine said as he addressed the team three days before training camp opens. “The repetitions will be handled that way with Josh as the 1. I wouldn’t say I’m guaranteeing today that Josh McCown is going to be the starter against the Jets. A lot can happen in preseason.”
The Browns aren’t going to put fear into anyone with Josh McCown as the starter, so if Manziel can’t eventually take his job, he will be out of the NFL very soon.
