The robotics company Cyberdyne based in Tsukuba, Japan is developing a new robot.
This new phenomenon will be a labor robot with artificial intelligence mainly used for assistance in the work place, such as assisting with heavy lifting, handing out products, and even possibly speaking to humans in need. As said by the company’s Chief Executive Officer on National Post
“We’re providing technologies that will change the airport staff’s ways of working,” Cyberdyne Chief Executive Officer said proudly.
Other companies are also developing similar robots such as these
Some robots produced for the service sector can communicate with people. In June, SoftBank Group started marketing Pepper, a robot that can be used for corporate promotion activities such as handing out packs of tissues on the street, in addition to family tasks. A Toshiba robot developed last year uses sign language for those with difficulty hearing.
Governments and other companies all over are planning more budgets to be able to experiment making more robots, but lets all just hopes this doesn’t end up with something like the movie I, Robot happening.
