JJ Watt doesn’t need any extra motivation to get to the QB faster, but the Titans Zach Mettenberger just gave him some anyway.
“J.J. had to say it’s a bit high school-ish that I take selfies and I think he still rags me on Instagram every time he posts a selfie,” Mettenberger said via John McClain of The Houston Chronicle. “At the same time, if that’s high school-ish, he got a letterman jacket made, a Texans letterman jacket. That’s pretty high school-ish to me, don’t you think?”
If you don’t recall, Watt called Mettenberger’s selfie-antics during postgame “high school-ish”, prior to their week 8 matchup last year.
Once he finally reached him for a sack, the Defensive Player of the Year responded by mocking the 23-year old quarterback with a fake selfie.
Watt was looking to remind Mettenberger that he’s playing with the big boys now; it’s just too bad it took almost 8 months for the QB to respond.
One things for sure, though: if he believes Watt is going to forget all about this delayed response by the time their November 1st match-up comes around, chances are he’ll be sorely mistaken.
This divisional rivalry just got a whole lot more interesting.
