The WWE is in the movie making business but usually they work with flimsy action movie scripts. It looks like WWE is expanding their formula in their first foray into faith based movie making. The WWE has bought the rights to the film “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone” and here is the press release on it.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 29, 2015) – WWE Studios (NYSE: WWE) announced today that it has acquired worldwide rights to The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, a faith-based title from the Harvest Bible Chapel’s Vertical Church Films. The film recently wrapped production and stars Brett Dalton (Marvel’s “Agents of Shield”), Anjelah Johnson-Reyes (Moms’ Night Out), D.B. Sweeney (“Suits,” “24”), Neil Flynn (“The Middle”) and WWE Legend Shawn Michaels.
Brett Dalton, from Agents of Shield, plays the titular character Gavin Stone with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels also playing a part. Faith based films are hit or miss but the WWE should do a great job in marketing the film which is also a comedy and they’ll be getting as many eyes on it as possible. It’s not going to generate tons of cash but it might be a modest hit, by WWE Studios standards.
