On Monday in Los Angeles, Golden Boy Promotions and Roc Nation Sports joined forces to formally announce their big pay-per-view event that will close out 2015 with a bang.
In front of a raucous, pro-Canelo crowd at the Hollywood and Highland Entertainment Center in Hollywood, CA, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, challenger Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and their respective teams jointly held court for the first time since the announcement of their November 21st showdown at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for the WBC middleweight title. With Hollywood marking their first stop on a multi-city press tour to promote the pay-per-view event, the combatants promised an exciting matchup that will add another chapter to the storied Puerto Rican vs Mexican rivalry that has been a staple in boxing.
Engaging in the first of 4 staredowns before the bout, Cotto maintained the emotionless, stoic demeanor he’s been known for while Canelo smiled and waved at fans.
Additional stops on the press tour include Puerto Rico, New York and Mexico City.
