Before every season, the incoming rookie class holds a photo shoot at the Knicks’ practice facility in Tarrytown, New York. During the day, the rookies are required to conduct a survey on various topics concerning their fellow peers.
The main answer folks want to talk about is who the rookies voted as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. To no surprise, the heavy favorite is Jahlil Okafor.
Winning this award is something Okafor has his eyes set on.
“For myself, before the season I just need to make sure I’m prepared. I don’t know what to expect, I’ve never played in the NBA, but Rookie of the Year is one of my goals I’ve set for myself, my personal achievements. As for the team, I want to get better. We’re a rebuilding team right now, but (we should) go out there every day and compete.”
Okafor should be the favorite because when you think about it, he may be the only rookie that is instantly the number one option, so he should able to produce numbers wise.
Top pick Karl Anthony-Towns has to share the spotlight with Andrew Wiggins, while D’Angelo Russell has to endure Kobe Bryant shooting 20+ times a night.
