According to ESPN, 2013 NBA MVP Derrick Rose is considering the option of not attending the Team USA minicamp in Las Vegas on August 11-13.
The Chicago Bulls guard has expressed interest in participating for Team USA Basketball, but after finally being healthy this season would playing be a potential risk to injury.
Rose showed flashes of brilliance in the NBA Playoffs last season before eventually losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Not to mention, the point guard crop that he will be competing against is loaded. Star guards Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, and 2008 Olympic gold medalist Chris Paul will all be looking for a spot on the team.
Rose will have to weigh out a decision of being on ice for next season or a potential scare in participating for USA Basketball in the following weeks.
