Although things between the United States and Russia are shaky at best, one American citizen is trying to bridge the gap through sports. Boxer/rapper Roy Jones Jr. thinks that he has a plan to solve some of the problems between the U.S. and Russia using boxing. Jones has even asked Russian President Vladimir Putin if he may have a Russian passport.
Jones’ promoter told the R-Sport news agency two years ago that the boxer wanted a Russian passport.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Putin wished Jones success doing business in Russia and the boxer responded that this would be easier if he had a Russian passport. Putin told him this would not be a problem if he planned to spend a significant part of his life in Russia.
With as wide as the gap has become between these two nations, anything is worth a try at this point.
