The 2015 Pittsburgh Steelers continue to entertain through the dog days of camp.
It all started back when Antonio Brown showed up to training camp in a Rolls Royce decked-out in Steelers gear.
From there we’ve had reports of everything from players not knowing who their potential week one opponent’s QB, to dating Love and Hip Hop stars.
Or from rocking Waffle House with pride, to mowing the grass of their own practice field.
Actually, James Harrison mowing the practice field that time might have ultimately led to our next hilarious headline out of Steelers camp: one young guy thought Harrison was a retired player “just helping out”.
In an interview with 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, guard Ramon Foster told this story while not revealing the identity of the rookie:
“It was a young guy. I won’t say who it was,” Foster said. “He actually thought James was retired, and he was just here helping out. So everything that he’s seen him do in the weight room, he’s got to realize that that’s what he’s about to go through. So he was like, ‘man, I thought that dude was retired and helping out!’ I was like, ‘no, he’ll be out here real soon’, and ‘he’s like, oh.’”
For those wondering about Harrison, he is still training and working out, but only on the sidelines under allowance by head coach Mike Tomlin, who wants to keep the 37-year-old linebacker fresh for the season.
Good thing Foster was there to set the young gun straight, my guess is you wouldn’t like James Harrison when he’s angry.
Let’s just hope these entertaining headlines make for an entertaining football team. Pittsburgh seems to have all the right parts, they just need to put it all together one of these years.
