We were all wondering how the UFC would close out 2015 and we now know that it will be with the much anticipated Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor fight.
UFC president Dana White said, “MGM Resorts officials “moved Heaven and Earth” to allow the company to put the featherweight title unification bout between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Conor McGregor at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on Dec. 12.”
Dana went on to say that the dream of having Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor headline a PPV would have to wait.
“That fight isn’t going to be on the [Aldo-McGregor] card, for sure,” White told Yahoo. “If we were going to go to Dallas Cowboys Stadium, that’s another story, but the MGM really wanted the fight and they made a huge effort for it and they got it. And it works out better for us to be in Las Vegas.”
It would’ve been nice to see both athletes in the same building but maybe the UFC will save that ace for their first card in the new MGM Grand arena in 2016.
In the mean time, Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo is going to be a huge fight and the build up will surely rival what we saw this past spring.
