Many people wondered if it was a joke when there were reports that Metta World Peace was signed to the Lakers. We probably assumed that the well traveled Auburn Hills villain NBA days were behind him but it looks like the Lakers chose him over Jabari Brown.
We don’t know how much he has left in the tank but he’s in a familiar place helping Kobe mentoring a young Lakers roster. From the look of preseason, he’s still doing what made his name in the league, being a feisty defender but can he sustain it for 82 games? Byron Scott won’t have to worry about MWP asking for some offensive touches and he can help bring some leadership to that young group because we all know Kobe will be busy proving from the jump that he still has some Mamba in him.
In a tough western conference, it might not be enough to make the playoffs for this Lakers version but I’m sure MWP will grace the Staples Center with some entertainment just in case Swaggy P decides to take the night off which is unlikely, you can always count on Swaggy P for the entertainment part.
