Last Sunday, The Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants, 27-20 dropping them to last place in the division. While in attendance, Ex-Dallas Cowboys running back and punt returner, Dennis Morgan suffered a fatal heart attack. Morgan’s franchise record 98 yard punt return still stands to this day. Nicknamed “Strawberry,” Morgan played for the Cowboys in 1974 then followed that up with a short stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1975 before leaving the NFL altogether.
After going into cardiac arrest, Morgan was taken to Meadowlands Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Cowboys selected the Western Illinois University graduate in the 10th round of the NFL draft. Morgan led the Cowboys in punt and kick return yards his lone season with the team.
Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
