Are you tired of the the “Transformers” franchise? Well, too bad there’s not one, not two, NOT EVEN THREE, but four more coming your way.
Via Comic Book, Stephen Davis, a Hasbro executive, attended the MIP Junior Confrence where he was the keynote speaker. During the live Q&A, he revealed that the writers for the “Transformers” franchise has written enough content that he can confidently confirm four more movies will be coming to your neighborhood movie theater.
“You’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners,” Stephen J. Davis, President of Hasbro Studios and Entertainment and Licensing for Hasbro, told the audience at MIPJunior 2015. “In fact, we just finished — as some of you may have read — an incredible experience. We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a 3 month period of time…nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with — shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind, and written a bunch of great movies. And they plotted out the next ten years of Transformers. Similarly we are doing the same in television and digital. So stay tuned Transformers 5 is on its way. …And 6 and 7 and 8.”
So, for the next 10 years, we will have the “Transformers”. Not too sure how I personally feel about it. It’s not like the “Avengers” franchise where we have become attached to the characters and their individual story lines (Can someone tell me where Hulk went?) and the characters (actors) for the most part have remained consistent. It will be interesting to see how the writers develop the transformers for the next 10 years, if they manage to keep their fanbase happy, and if they manage to gain faithful actors who can stick with the franchise.
I can’t be the only one who thought the random story-line with Mark Wahlberg was awful.
