The ‘Drama Show’ is coming back to New York City and to pay per view for the first time ever.
Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has a prediction for the fight, but it’s not what you expect when IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) faces IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) in a HBO Pay-Per-View unification from Madison Square Garden.
De La Hoya isn’t predicting a knockout, claiming that he and Bernard Hopkins were overly impressed while watching him train in Canada recently.
“A lot of people are sleeping on Lemieux. I was in Canada the other day. This guy is looking sharp. He’s looking very, very sharp, very fast, very strong, so it’s going to be quite interesting who wins that one,” De La Hoya said. “I think this is Triple G’s first test ever in his career, so we’ll see if he passes.”
“I think people are expecting Triple G to win. I truly feel that people are going to be shocked by what Lemieux brings to the table on Saturday night, October 17th, live from the Garden. Could you ever imagine a fighter from Kazahstan and a fighter from Canada selling out the Garden? Only in America, right? It’s pretty cool.”
It’s all about surviving the punching power for David Lemieux. Sure he may extend the fight a few extra rounds, but will he be able to take the punishment that comes with trying to take out GGG?
