The World Series will give you certain emotions that will stir many things in you. Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez, however, is experiencing other emotions.
During Game 1 of the World Series, it’s been a tight game and it’s looking like a pitcher’s duel. The starter of Game 1 for the Royals Edinson Volquez unfortunately lost his father shortly before the start of the game.
The father of Edinson Volquez, the starting pitcher for the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the World Series, died Tuesday in the Dominican Republic, a family source told ESPNdeportes.com.
The source said Daniel Volquez, 63, died from complications of heart disease. The pitcher heard the news while on his way to Kauffman Stadium.
Since Volquez was taken out of the game, it’s been informed that his wife wanted her husband to not know about his father’s passing.
Edinson Volquez is w/his family right now in Royals clubhouse. Earlier today he lost his father. We send him & his family our condolences.
