The reigning Rookie of the Year, Andrew Wiggins, started off the year slow before exploding for 64 points in his last two games.
Out of high school, Wiggins was considered the best hooper since LeBron James. While the super skilled 20-year-old has a long way to go to reach LeBron’s status, his father, Mitchell Wiggins, has higher aspirations for his son.
In a very well written column from ESPN’s, Jason Buckland, he quoted Mitchell’s thoughts on the Cleveland trade.
“I think it’s better for him to play against LeBron than to play with LeBron,” Mitchell Wiggins says. “People said [if he stayed in Cleveland] he would have been Scottie to LeBron’s Jordan.”
Mitchell’s next quote is the one that’s going to create headlines.
“My opinion is, why can’t he be Jordan?”
Anytime a player is mentioned in the same breathe as Jordan, expect for fans to get into their feelings, which is very understandable.
