Excuses can’t be used for why you aren’t successful and Johnny Manziel just came up with something that his coaching staff fails to agree with.
Johnny Manziel has been struggling as of late in his starting role, and his excuse was something simple… He’s not tall enough, but sadly Coach Mike Pettine and offensive coordinator John DeFilipino think that excuse can’t be used because other QB’s of his stature have found success.
“There’s other quarterbacks in this league that are his size and are having some success,” DeFilippo said.
“There are other quarterbacks of his stature that have been successful,” Pettine said.
“Any quarterback who’s in that position has to learn it,” Pettine said. “Sometimes the only way to learn it is the live reps and get a sense of the game, and when you get a chance to get to the film and say, ‘Wow, that guy is wide-open and I didn’t see him.’
You know who else is 5’11? You guessed it, Russell Wilson, and he’s had pretty big success. Could it be that Johnny just isn’t as good amongst the large stature of NFL players?
