Since Al Golden was fired from his head coaching position at Miami, all kinds of names of been linked to the vacancy, but one of the more interesting names that has picked up steam lately is Texas head coach Charlie Strong.
There have been several reports saying that Strong is indeed interested in the job, as his Longhorns have struggled mightily during his first two seasons in Austin, and are looking at not going bowling this year.
During a press conference today Strong addressed the rumors and speculation that he was interested in being the next head coach down in Coral Gables.

That wasn’t a concrete denial from Strong on his interest in heading to South Beach. Whether Strong likes it or not, his name is more than likely going to be linked to that job until the position is filled or he gets some kind of extension from Texas and the latter isn’t happening.
Strong is very popular down in south Florida from his days at Florida and Louisville, so him at Miami does make sense on a lot of levels, except that he would have to be fired by his superiors or walk away from a top five college coaching job.
We haven’t even made to the offseason yet, and coaching replacements rumors are already swirling day in and out. Just wait until coaches can actually start interviewing for open positions, that’s when the fun will really begin.
