Wow, this is absolutely crazy.
I remember Michael Wright mostly because he followed Kevin Garnett and Ronnie Fields at Farragut High School, before becoming a McDonald’s All American, and Arizona Wildcat big man.
Wright — who was drafted by the Knicks in 2001 — was found dead in an SUV in Brooklyn under a pile of trash bags with an apparent bullet wound to the head according to TMZ Sports.
Officials say Wright’s body was found in the backseat of a Lexus SUV with a head wound — and it appears he may have taken his own life.
Family members have told media they do not suspect foul play.
Wright played at Arizona for three seasons, from 1998-99 to 2000-01. The Wildcats played in the 2001 NCAA Championship game, falling to Duke.
He was drafted No. 39 overall by the New York Knicks in 2001 but wound up starting a long overseas career in Poland.
The New York Daily News reports that Wright’s family initially suspected foul play.
Michael Wright was 35-years-old.
