Carmelo Anthony had a strong relationship with both Iman Shumpert and JR Smith, as teammates on the Knicks. Derek Fisher was unable to get either player to respond in Phil Jackson’s ‘Triangle offense’ — so they were shipped off to the Cavs.
LeBron — unlike Anthony — was able to help both players become integral parts of a team that made it all the way to the NBA Finals.
Tonight, the Cavs host the Knicks, and Carmelo was asked about his former teammates and they bond that was once shared.
Carmelo on Shumpert and JR not playing tonight: "I would love to play against my brothers. It seems like LeBron took all my family from me."

Melo has a new family now, one actually improved and looking like a playoff squad. Who knows — Anthony could see his old “family” again very soon.
