Rick Carlisle got some job security and a lot of money from Mark Cuban to keep the Mavs afloat. Marc Stein is reporting that Carlisle just inked a five-year, $35 million extension.

One of just five active NBA coaches with a championship, Carlisle left his role as an ESPN analyst to join the Mavericks in May 2008 and, after successful coaching stints in both Detroit and Indiana.
