Not many people can afford to turn down $18 million dollars a year, not even your average NFL quarterback.
So when Sam Bradford, a QB playing below average (9 touchdowns/10 interceptions) in the final year of his deal, turns down an extension with the Eagles for 4 years, $72 million? Needless to say, people were confused.
Accoding to Bradford, though, the reason is simple: he never received the offer.
Sam Bradford on whether he turned down a four-year deal: "That offer must have gotten lost in the mail." Said he never saw it.

He’s probably not speaking in the literal sense, but more just saving face in saying that he never turned down such an offer. Perhaps his agent never relayed the message, or maybe the whole thing is made up.
Regardless, now Bradford has an uphill battle facing him to try and reach that type of extension. So in a weird way, maybe it’s good news for Eagles fans that this will keep him motivated the rest of the year.
