Michael Bennett is echoing what a lot of NFL players feel about the fine system on hits especially hits on quarterbacks. Bennett who was fined $20K for a hit on Matt Cassel doesn’t understand how the Cowboys Jeff Heath wasn’t fined for the hit on his teammate Ricardo Lockette that resulted in a neck surgery.
“They fine me for falling into a guy’s leg and he (Heath) was looking and intentionally looking for a guy and calling him out and going and hit that guy,” Bennett said. “I didn’t look at his knee and just run and hit him in the knee…I think a lot of the hits I don’t understand the NFL when it comes to fines”.
This was the third fine for Bennett this year and he planned on appealing it like he did for the previous two. He was fined in preseason for hitting Alex Smith but won that appeal and he hasn’t received yet the final decision for his hit on Andy Dalton.
“I’ve got the gift of gab,” Bennett said of winning appeals.
We will see if he is right with this new appeal but one thing for sure, Bennett is not a fan of these fines.
