The Carolina Panthers are on a roll. After beating the once 5-0 Atlanta Falcons 38-0, the Panthers have grabbed everyone’s attention. Cam Newton is playing at an MVP level, the defense has the ability to shut down anyone’s offense any giving night and Ted Ginn has even found a way to keep both hands on the ball. The team is 13-0 and you would think everyone is happy right …. WRONG!!
Defensive end Charles Johnson isn’t happy. He’s upset about being pulled out of Sunday’s game in the fourth quarter and went to Twitter to tell the world.
“Good game overall as a TEAM!!? [W]hat’s the point of having good pass rushers if u sit them at the beginning of the 4 quarter #KeepPounding”
“I thought passer rusher are for situation like today!! Guess not.”
Johnson has since removed the tweets but you can look at his frustration one of two ways. Maybe Johnson is being selfish. Maybe he doesn’t care about the team and is all about personal stats. But maybe Johnson is trying to make a statement. Maybe he wants to punish every team they face for 60 minutes. Regardless to what he was thinking, coach Ron Rivera plans to sit down with Johnson later his week.
It’s worth noting that Johnson only played in 34 of 64 snaps. He went without a sack or a tackle and only had one quarterback hurry.
