The end is near for one of the best defensive backs of all time. Raiders Charles Woodson has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season.

Woodson will definitely be missed, he was a one of a kind type player. There is no doubt Woodson will be a first ballot Hall of Famer without a doubt but is he the best defensive back of all time?
When it comes to comparing him to another defensive back the only person that comes to mind as a worthy comparison is Deion Sanders. Woodson is the only player in NFL history to have 50+ interceptions and 20+ sacks. Deion Sanders finished his career with 53 interceptions and is views as the best lock down corner of all time in my eyes. Woodson was a different type player and a more complete defensive back. He had the ability to man and zone coverage, was a great open field tackler. During the 249 he’s started he racked up 65 interceptions, 33 forced fumbles and 18 fumble recoveries. He’s scored 13 defensive touchdowns as well which makes him more than.
Saying he’s the GOAT is really hard for me but I will easily say he’s a future Hall of Famer, he was the all around defensive back ever and will most likely end up back in TV.
