Kobe Bryant broke a lot of records during his NBA career and for his last season, he might break a record he won’t talk about proudly. Bryant is on pace to have the worst field goal percentage in 55 years, he is currently shooting 30.1% (74-246) from the floor, only Woody Sauldsberry had a worst percentage with a 29.9% mark in the 1960-1961 season playing for the St. Louis Hawks.
No player in the modern era ever shot below 30% but it is worth noting that one player this season is challenging Kobe for that record, it is Nuggets rookie Emmanuel Mudiay who is currently shooting 32.1% on his own. The worst percentage recorded in recent years was Kemba Walker (36.6%) in the 2011-2012 campaign and Trey Burke last season with 36.8%.
As stubborn as Kobe is he will most likely continue to shoot to get out of this shooting funk and he might just get the unwanted record. Kobe battled three serious injuries to come back, his body let him know that it was time to retire. We won’t remember or won’t associate this shooting percentage when talking about Kobe even though he recently said that he embraces the good and the bad of his 20 years in the NBA so we won’t feel bad for him.
