Hall of Fame Southern Methodist University head basketball coach Larry Brown has a lot of love for Philadelphia. And he’s not happy about how the front office has handled the Sixers’ rebuild process. He lamented about it, offering a few solutions.
“I’m sick of what’s going on there. You know I care about the Sixers. It’s an unbelievable basketball city and I had a great experience there. I don’t want to get on them when they’re struggling, but they don’t have any veteran leadership. I want to help. I could straighten it out in five minutes. I wish they’d get Allen involved. All those young kids worship him.”
By ‘Allen’, he’s referring to revered Sixers Allen Iverson whom he has alluded to before in reference to front office management. At this point, the 1-25 Sixers could probably use him on the court.
So he and old pal Jerry Colangelo teaming up in Philadelphia isn’t a crazy idea. Colangelo’s very presence in the Sixers front office was the NBA’s way of ensuring the team wasn’t tanking too hard. That says a lot about how much help the league’s worst team really needs.
Brown is currently serving out a 9-game suspension that also disqualifies SMU Men’s Basketball from playoff contention this year.
