Rick Ross is a lot of things from rap mogul to Wingstop franchise owner, the bawse knows how to diversify and it looks like he’s about to add another slash title to his name. Rozay has just finished writing his first screenplay from recollections of stories he heard growing up “sprinkled” with some of his own experiences. GABOS, which stands for Game Ain’t Based on Sypmathy, was inspired by Miami Vice and the after watching the critically acclaimed Netflix series, Narcos, Ross thinks it’s too big for one film and should be broken up into a series. Ross also gave us a little info on what the story is about.
Via Rolling Stone,
“I’ve always loved gangster movies cause it’s always focused on the underdogs and this one is really no different. The only thing better than a double cross is a triple cross.” – Rick Ross
So now that you know there’s a triple cross in the works, you can expect it coming if and when the movie gets made. Gangster movie with a triple cross is still a pretty generic explanation but he goes into influences from the Miami Vice era which could be interesting.
Rappers should be able to write some good screenplays based off their life and street stories. It also helps that Ross grew up in Miami which is ripe with good material and a great setting to pull from. Interested to see who picks up the rights and if it will actually be turned into a series.
