Russell Westbrook plays like a man possessed and with his heart on his sleeve every game he steps on the court. Of course, sometimes that passion gets him caught up in arguing calls and maybe getting technicals.
Westbrook has totaled 71 technicals in his career and led the NBA with 17 last year. However, he’s a changed player and has learned arguing doesn’t help at all.
“I’m done with those days,” Westbrook said to ESPN’s Royce Young during a shootaround session Tuesday. “I learned in the summertime, once they make a call, they ain’t changing it. Took me a while, but I learned it.”
Teammate Kevin Durant is still kinda skeptical on Westbrook not picking up any technicals.
“Not at all, not at all,” Durant said. “We’ll see. Hopefully he doesn’t get any more, but I don’t buy that.”
Thus far Westbrook is tied for 9th with 4 technicals on the season in 31 games, so he’s still a work in progress.
