Star Wars fans are not going to be happy about this delay.
If you haven’t seen the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, now would be a nice time to go and check out the film. But for those hardcore fans, you may be upset when you hear that your beloved Episode VIII has been pushed back to the end of 2017, specifically December 15, 2017.
The studio put a positive spin on the postponement, citing how Star Wars: The Force Awakens (which was also originally slated for a May debut) opened to record-smashing success in December.
The Episode VIII release date change announcement comes on the heels of a rumor that the Rian Johnson-directed sequel was getting a rewrite.
At the end of the day, Disney knows that December is probably the best time to make money. The month of May works just as great but this is all a business decision, too.
