Former WBO and WBC Champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel, was greeted in the early morning hours of Jan 8th by Mexican military forces. A marine unit stormed Montiel’s house to arrest an accomplice of Mexican drug lord “El Chapo.”
According to Montiel, the former champ said he was shocked when the marine’s search revealed a man hiding in one of his rooms. Montiel stated that the man was able to break into his home, deactivate the security system, and hide without detection.
Montiel claimed he did not know the captured accomplice or of the operation to capture “El Chapo” carried out earlier this week.
On Twitter Montiel said, “I can only say that God does exist and He was with me at this time. Thanks be to God for what I survived this morning.”
Luckily, neither Montiel or his family were hurt during the raid, perhaps Monitel should set aside some of his future winnings to upgrade his security system.
