The Cleveland Cavaliers just came off of a tough loss 99-95 to the San Antonio Spurs. We almost halfway through the season and approaching All-Star break in a couple weeks. The Cavs have look better than they did around this time last year. As they get ready to get back to the NBA Finals for their second Consecutive year but that doesn’t mean they’re not open for improvement as they still try to get Kyrie Irving fully healthy.
According to Cleveland.com influential players on the Cavs are open for trading for Markieff Morrris. Normally that means LeBron has taken an interest in it because he is the only influential player whose opinions carries enough weight to get the team to consider them.
The players believe that they can make Morris play a good role in the lineup and get the most out of him. And also due to Kevin Love injury history it wouldn’t be bad to have another stretch power forward on the bench in case this happens again.
The Cavs have a $10.5 million trade exception which expires at the end of this season. The Cavs would probably have to trade other assets in order to get Morris, but when you look at their roster they don’t have much to choose from. Sources close to the Cavs says the organization isn’t too quick to make that move saying that Morris has a chance of messing up the team’s’ chemistry. They would rather use the trade exception on a defensive minded wing player who can spot up and shoot three pointers in case injury prone guard Iman Shumpert get hurts once again.
Morris wouldn’t be a bad pickup if he can keep his attitude in check. Beside this season as he expressed his feelings about the Phoenix Suns this year for trading his brother, Morris stats has improved every year. You would think if he gets a fresh start with a championship contender, he could really use his talents and help the Cavs win a title this year. It’s clear the Cavs want to show the world what will happen if their roster is set and fully healthy.
