I’ve come to the realization some time ago that Johnny Manziel really might be too big for the Cleveland Browns. Yes I know that sounds crazy because Manziel hasn’t done much as a quarterback in the league but let me explain. Manziel’s name alone puts him on superstar status despite his play not supporting the title. He’s on a team that continues to play mary-go-round with their coaches and quarterbacks not sticking with anyone long enough for them to prove their worth.
With the Browns hiring new head coach Hue Jackson, who reportedly plans to move on from Manziel, Johnny decided to make an early trip to Dallas, the home of the Cowboys who he’s been linked to for some weeks now. But what was Manziel doing in Dallas? According to Star-Telegram, Manziel was enjoying life the way he have become accustomed to him doing.
Manziel was spotted at a Fort Worth liquor store and assistance manger Theresa Swinney has shared the details. Swinney acknowledged that she and her colleagues instantly recognized Manziel.
“He bought a $120 bottle of Don Julio Tequila as part of his nearly $200 total that he paid for with a credit card. He was in a really good mood.”
I’m sure he was in a good mood, he’s living the life. What I feel would be best for Manziel is to actually be released by the Browns which could serve as a reality check. Then, he needs to land with a team where he can be just another guy, serve as a backup behind a veteran quarterback as learn the ropes of the NFL. Three teams quickly come to mind, the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I guess we all have to wait and see how the Johnny Manziel soap opera ends.
