This marriage never had a chance.
Penn State junior quarterback Christian Hackenberg declared for the 2016 NFL Draft today after the Nittany Lions 24-7 loss to Georgia in the Taxslayer Bowl.
Hackenberg had a really good freshman season in 2013 under then-head coach Bill O’Brien — who employed a pro-style offense that fit the gunslinger skills.
After James Franklin came in from Vanderbilt — Hackenberg struggled the next two years in the zone-read, spread offense.
Today when Hackenberg announced his decision, the quarterback thanked a lot of people, but left Franklin’s name out.
