Duke Guard, Grayson Allen, has been the topic of discussion these last few weeks concerning his dirty playing. The first few physical altercations he’s been in wasn’t at the height of much attention, a few even chalked up to “intense play”, but since his intentional tripping of FSU’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes, he’s now being looked at as a dirty player.
The ACC took note of Allen’s play and since released a punishment and statement.
“The ACC considers the matter closed and will have no further comment,” the league said in a brief statement.
While the ACC has noted that Allen is reprimanded, no suspension was given.
FSU head coach, Leonard Hamilton, spoke to ESPN and stated he’s spoken with Coach K, who apologized, and the team has moved on.
“[Krzyzewski] acknowledged the fact and apologized to our staff and to let Xavier know too,” Hamilton told ESPN. “We accepted it and moved on. It’s the end of it.
“I was proud of the way Xavier handled it. We’ve done moved on. We don’t want to let it become an issue. It’s over.”
With no suspensions and just a slap on the wrist, one has to wonder if Allen even feels a bit remorseful; this isn’t his first time in “physical” play. Allen is the first Duke player to remove the gloves during a match, but lets just hope Coach K pulls in the reigns before it gets out of hand.
