The official ‘Road to Wrestlemania’ begins after this Sunday’s WWE Fastlane PPV. On paper the match card seems to have very little carry over to this year’s WrestleMania card but with a few swerves and proper booking it could be the perfect set up for what’s to come.
We will run down the list of events and matches and explain how they’ll tie in to possible WM32 feuds.
Edge and Christian will interview WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day
The Edge & Christian segment is being used to set up their new WWE Network show but the underlying reason for them having the New Day on the segment is for them to build the triple, or quadruple, threat tag team championship match for WM32.
Don’t be surprised to see the Usos crash the festivities and challenge to New Day to a title match at Mania. Followed by the Dudley Boyz ransacking both teams and further establishing their heel characters.
Kalisto (c) vs Alberto Del Rio (U.S. Title Match on the pre-show)
The U.S. Title has been irrelevant since John Cena gave it up to Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio losing it to Kalisto didn’t help strengthen the belt at all and now it’s be relegated to a pre-show title. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
It’s okay because Kalisto will have Del Rio on the brink of defeat when he is robbed by the League of Nations. The ref will be distracted by Sheamus, Rusev will kick him in the head & Del Rio will get the pin. They will then proceed to beat down Kalisto before the music hits…
“THE CHAMP IS HERE!!!”
“Super Cena” runs in to clear the ring and save little helpless Kalisto. (He doesn’t have to do any moves just run down the ramp really fast.) This will allow Cena to rehab another 2-3 weeks before having to test out his arm in an actual match. He’d then challenge Del Rio to a title match at WM32.
