If you did not see Marvel’s Deadpool this past weekend you missed out. I got a chance to see the film and think it’s a must see. The best part about the film is that even if you are not into the “Superhero” genre you can still enjoy it. The film even pokes fun at itself.
Ryan Reynolds was a great casting choice and did an excellent job portraying Wade Wilson. If you recall, he also played Deadpool in “X-men Origins”. However, Deadpool he portrayed in this movie was way better and stayed more true to the comic book character. Deadpool is not your typical Marvel superhero and in fact I would not consider him a hero at all. The film did a great job reiterating this in a comedic way. There is cursing, nudity, satire and not so subtle jabs at current Marvel Movies. He even made fun of his previous role as Deadpool and Green Lantern.
Just like most Marvel movies there are two end scenes after the credits that you should stay for. Reynolds gives you a clue who will be in the next film.
Despite the endless jokes and well choreographed action I did have some dislikes.I wish Gina Carano (Angel Dust) had some more dialogue. I thought she looked great but felt like they did not really know what to do with her. In addition, the moments when Reynolds breaks away and is talking to the audience seemed to mess up the pace. Breaking the fourth wall is what he is known for but it just seemed excessive or not well-timed. Nevertheless, the film is fun and enjoyable.
Deadpool broke several box office records including biggest “R” rated movie opening. The film made a record 132.4 million its opening weekend. (The Matrix: Reloaded held the previous title).
…..go see the movie and thank me later.
