19 year-old phenom Sage Northcutt lost his first UFC fight last weekend and UFC president Dana White feels personably responsible for the defeat.
“The kid really wanted to fight and I let him fight,” White said. “He was sick as hell. I blew it.”
Dana White elaborated by saying he was informed of Sage’s illness prior to the event but did not call of the fight.
“The kid was super sick and he still wanted to fight,” White said on the Big Boy showthis week. “His father said, listen we still want to take the fight, we still want to take the fight. I should have pulled the kid from the fight. He’s 19 years old, he fought three times in [four] months. I should have pulled the kid from the fight.”
Sage may have been sick, and maybe that led to the premature tap, but Sage definitely showed flaws during the fight that had nothing to do with an illness. He will need to sure up those aspects of his game before returning to the octagon.
